Road-trip Pt. 2

Nick and I had a great time hanging out with my sister and brother-in-law in Pocatello, Idaho. Thankfully, the weather was perfect there and not too hot or unseasonably cool (which tends to happen there, much like Illinois). We relaxed, went out to Buffalo Wild Wings for wings and beer, took Lola to the dog park, and started happy hour at 4 the next day so we could sit out on the patio and soak up some sun. It was all too short a trip but they will be back in Oregon the beginning of July, when we plan on finishing up wedding stuff, of course, but making as many trips to Portland as possible and going out to all of our favorite places!

We woke up bright and early on Monday morning and hit the road for the last 11 hours of our trip. I slept for the first few hours (we left at 5... a little earlier than I had planned on) but had to make sure to wake up so I could see the Welcome to Oregon sign! I also couldn't stop taking pictures of all the mountains we kept seeing. We both just marveled at how pretty everything was once we got into Oregon... and everything is soooo so green! I really do forget it every time I'm gone for awhile and then come back again. It really is the best. We made great time, so we stopped in Portland on our way back to see Nick's mom. She has the cutest little place complete with a little pond in the backyard full of geese and little goslings. She had some delicious yucchni (no idea how to spell it but it's delicious) waiting for us, and we sat outside and celebrated being back in Oregon with some delicious Oregon pinot noir.

We are still recovering a bit from our drive but we are loving being back. We really could not have had more perfect weather for this first week, and we've already been able to grill out, drink lots of good Oregon beer, and work out in the yard! It's weird not working right now, but I'm trying not to think about that and just enjoy not doing a whole lot of anything in particular :)
